SCBA—Lt. Filpi
The District maintains compliance with NFPA 1852, also known as the “Standard on Selection,
Care, and Maintenance of Open-Circuit Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA),” which
establishes necessary care as required by the respiratory protection program in NFPA 1500.
Proper maintenance, replacement, and testing of SCBA materials are essential to the health and
safety of District firefighters. In dedicating proper budgetary funding to this section, the District
continues to uphold its commitment to the health and wellness of District employees. The
District also recognizes that the health and safety of an on-duty firefighter can and will have a
direct impact on their ability to properly respond to calls within the community. By allotting the
above funds to comply with NFPA 1852, the District promotes both quality of safety and quality
of service.
