Radio Communications—FF/PM Helvey
The District designates funding in the annual budget for radio communications in order to remain
compliant with NFPA 1802, which is the “standard on two-way, portable RF voice
communications devices for use by emergency services personnel.” As a public safety entity,
proper radio communication is invaluable to the District’s pursuit of efficient and effective
public service. When responding to calls and coordinating response efforts, the functionality of
the District’s radio communication is essential. Without access to the resources listed in this lineitem, the District would be ill-equipped to handle emergencies within the community.
Furthermore, proper upkeep of these items is crucial in regard to opportunities for improvements
to response time.
