Buildings & Grounds—Lt. Scumaci
“Building and Grounds” is a comprehensive budget section that encompasses items ranging from
mulch to HVAC systems. Upkeep of District buildings and grounds is essential to the efficiency
of operations, and allows both On-Duty Firefighters and Administrative Staff to perform tasks in
a clean, safe environment. Several items within this section, such as the CO & sprinkler systems,
directly address matters of building safety. Furthermore, items contributing to external upkeep
are vital to maintaining professionalism throughout each station. Other notable features of this
section, such as appliance maintenance and houseware items, allow for the comfortable
completion of shift-work. Because shifts last for 24 hours, each station also acts as a second
home for District firefighters. Consequently, line-items in this section are invaluable to
operations.
