Department: EMS
Useful Life: 10 years, or as advised
Category: Equipment Procurement
Contact: EMS Administrator Negri
Description:
The District is procuring a Laerdal SimMan ALS Manikin with accessories to utilize for EMS
training and continued education. Budgeted cost is $48,500.
Justification:
This training manikin is being procured to enhance clinical readiness, improve training quality,
and support better patient outcomes. This model offers high-fidelity, realistic training, hands-on
practice of advanced skills, scenario-based team training, and promotes real-time feedback. This
is in alignment with the following low priority strategic goal: Evolving Service Demands Met ->
increased efficiency through technology
Budget Impact/Other:
Per GFOA best practices, operating impacts may be classified into one of three elements (or a
combination of the three) based on the nature of the purchase: 1) increased revenues, 2)
increased expenditures, and 3) additional cost savings. The procurement of an EMS training
manikin will incur increased expenditures. Expenditures will be incurred in alignment with
regular maintenance schedules as the manikin eventually requires service beyond its warranty.
