| DISTRICT HISTORY
Much time, work, and money went into building the present field house.
At their meeting on July 13, 1948, the department voted to donate their share of the annual firemen's
picnic for the purpose of building the field house. At this time, the Rural League also donated their share
of the picnic to this worthy cause.
1950 to Today
A lot has changed since 1897. Today, the Bartlett Fire Protection District (District) protects a total area of
24 square miles which consists of approximately 46,000 residents. To serve this area, the District consists
of 51 sworn full-time personnel, 1 fire chaplain, 1 fire marshal, and 7 support personnel. The District
responds out of three stations strategically located throughout the community. The District is an allhazards department responding to emergency medical, vehicle accidents, structure fires, hazardous
materials, dive rescue, and technical rescue incidents. The District is a member of MABAS Divisions 1 &
2 and responds to approximately 4,800 calls annually. Additionally, the District operates with three 24hour rotating shifts. Each shift is staffed with ten firefighters, three lieutenants, and one battalion chief.
This staffing model supports two engines, one tower ladder, two ambulances, and a command vehicle.
When fully staffed, the District may deploy a third ambulance to run calls. All of the District’s vehicles
are staffed with certified and licensed firefighter / paramedics who can provide advanced life support
services within minutes.
In addition to the shift personnel, the District manages a fire prevention bureau, staffed with one fire
marshal. The District administration consists of the fire chief, deputy fire chief, human resource manager,
executive assistant, EMS administrator, fire analyst, social media coordinator and department chaplain.
