FIRE OPERATIONS
Firefighting Equipment—Lt. Carr
The Fire Equipment AOR is tasked with testing, maintaining, and replacing all fire district
rescue equipment on the fire and emergency medical vehicles. These items include Hurst
equipment (Jaws of Life), battery-powered tools, fire extinguishers, and firefighting hand
tools. This AOR is led and managed by Lt. Carr, who is assisted by FF/PM Gomoll, FF/PM
Ackerman, and FF/PM Christ. All items are purchased, maintained, and replaced based on
the tool manufacturer and the National Fire Protection Association’s guidance and
recommendations. The NFPA Standards used are the NFPA 1936 Standard on Rescue Tools,
the NFPA 1937 Standard for the Selection Care Maintenance of Rescue Tools, and the NFPA
10 Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers. Purchasing, maintaining, and replacing worn
equipment provides firefighters with safe and reliable tools when needed to perform their
duties.
