CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
2025 Overview
Type: Staff Vehicle Replacement
Department: Administration
Useful Life: Front-line 10 years, then out
of service
Category: Vehicle Repairs &
Replacements
Contact: Deputy Chief Becker
Description:
The District is replacing a 2013 Ford Explorer with a 2025 Ford F-150 pickup truck for use
by staff and the District’s Fire Marshal. This vehicle will be purchased, and then equipped
with the proper lighting and equipment to ensure it is fit for front-line use. Budgeted cost is
$70,000.
Justification:
In order to remain in compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
Standards, staff budgets vehicle replacements to coincide with front-line & retirement
schedules. 1 This is in alignment with the following high priority strategic goal: continue to
follow and fund the fleet replacement schedule and plans.
Budget Impact/Other:
Per GFOA best practices, operating impacts may be classified into one of three elements (or
a combination of the three) based on the nature of the purchase: 1) increased revenues, 2)
increased expenditures, and 3) additional cost savings. The procurement of a replacement
staff vehicle will provide the District additional cost savings following the first year as
repair and maintenance costs decrease from the previously used vehicle.
