BECOME CPR CERTIFIED:
BYSTANDER INITIATIVE - HELP SAVE A LIFE!
Cardiac arrest remains one of the leading causes
of death in the United States, claiming more than
436,000 lives each year. Of the 350,000 cardiac
arrests that occur outside of hospitals annually,
more than 70 percent happen in the home.
That means the life you may save with CPR is
likely a family member or friend. Yet only about
40 percent of cardiac arrest victims receive immediate help before emergency crews arrive.
Every second counts during an emergency. In fact,
survival odds drop by 10 percent for every minute
CPR or defibrillation is delayed.
Learning CPR can make the difference between
life and death. Immediate CPR has been shown to
triple a person’s chance of survival. Bartlett Fire
District offers American Heart Association CPR
training, and residents can register for classes
through the ‘Residents’ drop-down tab on our
website.
